Description

The aim is to provide hospital services, and particularly healthcare managers, with a tool for predicting care workloads and human resources requirements. Indeed, hospital services can be faced with a mismatch between the number of caregivers present in hospital ward and the patients needs in that ward. There are several reasons for this situation: unscheduled admissions, deprogramming and reprogramming (delayed admissions). Most of the time, schedules are drawn up empirically, based on service’s usual activity.Care managers have very little latitude to adjust staffing levels precisely according to the predicted patients flow and their “weight” in care. This type of planning therefore takes no account of the dynamic reality of the service’s activity and are passive. In the event of a rush, or conversely of a fortuitous under-activity, there is very little opportunity for a care manager to adjust resources to needs. Indeed, unless a few last-minute arrangements are made within the team, the planned workforce is the one that will be applied.

The main objective is to produce predictive human charge dashboards

The scientific challenges are: patient profiling, the automatic reallocation of human resources according to changes in care loads and optimization of response times.
